Jaffa Twist Truffles

I was recently lucky enough to be sent some new flavoured icing sugars from Sugar and Crumbs. I was so excited when I opened to parcel to discover packs of Jaffa Twist and Chocolate Milkshake natural flavoured icing sugars……. Ooooooooh the possibilities were endless…… I’m going to concentrate on the Jaffa Twist in this post and save the Chocolate Milkshake for another day! I love all the flavours they have on their website, and I also love that the bags are resealable.

Instead of going for the obvious butter cream frosting for a cupcake, I thought I’d try something different. You are going to love making these truffles as they are SUPER easy and only use THREE ingredients! Great for parties or *whispers* Christmas gifts. So, let’s get on with it, shall we?

INGREDIENTS (makes 25 approx. – depending on the size you make them)

120g Unsalted Butter (straight from the fridge)

175g Jaffa Twist Icing Sugar (plus 1tbsp for dusting)

1tbsp Cocoa Powder (plus 2tbsp for dusting)

Yip, that’s all!!

  1. Mix a tablespoon of Jaffa Twist Icing Sugar with 2tbsp of Cocoa Powder in a bowl and set aside. This will be used for the dusting the truffles at the end
  2. Place your 120g of Unsalted Butter into a bowl with your 175g of Jaffa Twist Icing Sugar and mix with an electric hand whisk until nice and fluffy.
  3. Add in your 1tbsp of Cocoa Powder and mix thoroughly.
  4. Using a teaspoon, scoop up some of the mixture and roll it into a bite size ball. Now roll them in the bowl of Icing Sugar and Cocoa Powder and place on a tray. Once you’ve made them all, pop the tray into the fridge for an hour to chill before devouring!

If, after making the truffle mixture, it seems too wet to form a ball, place the mixture into the fridge for an hour to firm it up.

Store the truffles in the fridge in an airtight container. They’ll keep for up to three days (this has proved impossible at my house so far as they’ve been eaten way before then!)

Truffles can be frozen for up to one month. Just defrost them in the fridge overnight.

Rub a very small amount of vegetable oil into your hands before you start to roll. This will prevent the mixture sticking to your hands.

Try different coatings for your truffles, coconut, sprinkles, chocolate shavings, melted chocolate, crushed Oreo Cookies are just a few!!

I was sent the bags of icing sugar in response to a request for bloggers to review their new flavours. All views are my own.
